Charity Auction for Mission Trip

My sister recently asked me if I would be interested in making a couple of things for a silent auction her church is having in May to help fund a mission trip to the Bahamas. so of course I said yes!

I wanted to share alittle about her and my 14 year old nephew's upcoming trip. My sister's church, Janes United Methodist Church, has put together a short-term mission trip to Nassau, Bahamas for August of this year. She will be part of a 30 member team who will repair schools, homes, and community areas. They will also conduct a Vacation Bible School in the part of Nassau where the Haitian immigrants live.

As you can imagine there is a cost for this trip, it will be approximately $1000 per person for air fare, lodging, needed supplies and materials. The team is sponsoring several fundraisers to earn money and they have been given the oppurtunity for individual sponsorship.

The Tot Tote and Hat I have made are going to be part of the Silent Auction the Church will be having. The Auction and Roast Beef dinner will be held on Sat, August 3rd from 4-7pm, in Fellowship Hall at Janes United Methodist Church.

If you are interested in making a tax deductable contribution or even being a sponser, here's the address :: Janes United Methodist Church, 213 Walnut Street, P.O. Box 242, Rising Sun, MD 21911-0242 Phone ::(410) 658-6800 (Please note contribution is for Deborah Wood)

If you cannot help in a finacial way please continue the support for this mission trip with your prayers for my sister, nephew and all others involved!!

Thoughts of a Friend.....

I just received word that a very good friend of mine, that I actually met through Etsy and the groups I have joined, has found out she has Breast Cancer.
Jodi, is the creator of Happy House Quilts, you may have read my past post about her fabulous Hair Quilts. She has become a great friend and has really taught me a lot about starting a business, marketing, and much, much more... I was brought to tears when I heard her news. I personally have not had to go through this but my Mother, her Mother (my Grandmother), my Great Aunt, and even my Mother in Law have all had Breast Cancer. So, I do know that it is a very, very scary. This was her first mammogram since she is now 40.
I am only 31 and am suppossed to get checked every year because of the risk factor in my family. I have not had a mammogram yet. I am terrified! But I think now seeing what Jodi is having to go through I may what to push past my fear and do it! I have three daughters, as does Jodi, and I think I am more terrified for them than myself.
The Pink Ribbon Clip above was created by Jodi and is for sale at her Etsy shop. Proceeds will benefit Breat Cancer Awareness. Please visit her Blog and her website Happy House Quilts.
Jodi, if you read this you are in my prayers and thoughts.
My support will always be with you and for all the other women out there suffering from Breast Cancer.

Customer have great ideas!!!

I was recently asked to make a cellphone charm for a customer. I have never made anything that small or delicate, so I was a bit nervous when I said I would do it. I was asked to make a cupcake, M2MG Cupcake Cutie, with a pink bottom and white icing and ofcourse sprinkles!

Well, as you can see it turned out super cute!! My customer is was very pleased with it, so that's awesome. I would have never thought to try to make one of these. Now I may make more add to the shop!

Backpacks are here.....

So I decided to try to make a backpack and I wasn't sure if I would like it. But, I think the finished product actually turned out very nice. This is the first one I have made, it's made to match Gymboree's Tennis Match line. It has a drawstring closure with bright flowers at the end of the ties. It would be perfect for a sleepover, the beach , or the pool to carry a towel or a change of clothes.

It's just the right size for any young girl!
